Several luxury brands are preparing to expand their presence in India as the country approaches the festive season. Brands such as Aquazzura, Diptyque, and Golden Goose are planning to open new stores in Delhi, following a slowdown earlier this year due to summer heat and elections. Additionally, the apparel brand Amiri will introduce a small pop-up store to test the market.
Amit Pande, Business Head at ABFRL, has expressed optimism for a recovery in the luxury sector following the summer period, with expectations for strong growth during the festive season. DLF Emporio in Delhi is also set to introduce a new zone focused on ready-to-wear collections by young Indian designers, catering to the changing preferences of millennial and Gen Z consumers, who are increasingly discovering luxury products through digital platforms.
Despite global trends indicating a decline in walk-in customers, online shopping for luxury goods is on the rise, with leather goods and accessories showing resilience. Categories like workwear are also experiencing a resurgence.
Looking ahead, ABFRL plans to expand its portfolio with five new stores, while Galeries Lafayette is planning significant expansions in Mumbai and Delhi by 2025. This expansion highlights India’s growing luxury market, driven by increasing disposable incomes and an expanding affluent population, making it an attractive destination for global luxury brands seeking growth opportunities.
This strategic push underscores the positive outlook for India’s luxury retail sector, which is benefiting from shifting consumer behaviors and economic recovery.
