Crowley, a privately owned shipping company based in Florida, has announced its acquisition of mooring specialists Main Line Inc., headquartered in Seattle. The acquisition aims to enhance Crowley’s ability to serve customers at the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, providing a more comprehensive solution for vessel mooring and ship assist services.
James C. Fowler, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crowley Shipping, stated that the acquisition will help further strengthen the company’s reputation for reliable and safe vessel operations. He emphasized that Crowley customers will benefit from even greater assurance in the docking and sailing of their vessels without delays or incidents.
Main Line, established in 1995, will be integrated into Crowley as part of the asset purchase agreement. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Crowley currently operates seven tugs in the Pacific Northwest region.
The Seattle port is a major export hub, with container liners serving routes to and from Asia, Europe, Latin America, Oceania, Africa, and the Caribbean. Tacoma, which operates five large container terminals, hosts calls from some of the world’s largest container shipping lines.
