Bidfood Netherlands is set to enhance its commitment to sustainable logistics by integrating 25 additional Renault Trucks E-Tech vehicles into its fleet by the end of the first quarter of 2025. This expansion will double the company’s electric fleet, bringing the total number of Renault electric trucks in operation to 50.
Since initiating its transition to electric vehicles in 2021, Bidfood Netherlands has incorporated 25 Renault Trucks E-Tech models into its operations. These vehicles have collectively prevented approximately 230 tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions, underscoring the potential of electromobility in reducing environmental impact.
Dick Slootweg, Managing Director of Bidfood Netherlands, commented on the initiative: “These tangible results show that electromobility is not a distant ambition but an operational and effective reality. It allows us to reduce our environmental footprint while meeting our customers’ growing expectations for sustainability.”
The collaboration between Bidfood Netherlands and Renault Trucks has been pivotal in this transition. Over the past three years, both companies have worked closely to address the operational challenges associated with integrating electric vehicles into logistics. Jérôme Berthelet, Managing Director of Renault Trucks Netherlands, highlighted the partnership’s success: “This collaboration has enabled us to develop customised solutions aligned with their constraints and decarbonisation ambitions.”
The new electric trucks will be manufactured at Renault Trucks’ Blainville-sur-Orne facility in France. This plant, operational since March 2020, is notable for being the first in Europe to produce electric trucks in series. Recently, it marked the production of its 2,000th electric truck—a Renault Trucks E-Tech model—delivered to Bidfood Netherlands.
Bidfood’s strategic move aligns with the broader industry trend towards sustainable logistics solutions. As environmental regulations become more stringent and consumer demand for eco-friendly practices increases, companies are increasingly adopting electric vehicles to meet these expectations.
The expansion of Bidfood’s electric fleet not only reflects its dedication to sustainability but also serves as a model for other logistics companies aiming to reduce their carbon footprints. By investing in electromobility, Bidfood Netherlands demonstrates that sustainable practices and operational efficiency can go hand in hand, paving the way for a greener future in the logistics sector.
