Mitsubishi Motors Europe (MME) has announced a strategic partnership with Vinturas, a company specializing in supply chain technology, to adopt blockchain technology for tracking the movement of its vehicles. This new initiative is aimed at improving logistics and establishing a transparent and data-centric vehicle supply chain.
This collaboration marks a significant step for MME in enhancing the interoperability of its network, integrating its IT applications more seamlessly with those of its trading partners. The expected outcomes include heightened efficiency and considerable cost reductions. The deployment of this blockchain solution has already commenced with the launch of Mitsubishi’s new ASX and COLT models.
The automotive industry is facing challenges such as inflation, rising labor costs, and the shift towards electric vehicles. To address these, manufacturers are increasingly leveraging cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain. Vinturas’s blockchain technology provides stakeholders within the supply chain the ability to monitor vehicles in real-time, offering precise location data and updates on the vehicles’ status.
Such granular tracking capabilities enable MME and its partners to oversee the journey of newly manufactured vehicles from production to delivery to customers. This is especially beneficial for rerouting vehicles or conducting recalls if necessary. Additionally, Vinturas’s solution ensures the encryption of data for security purposes and grants MME control over the dissemination of information across its European supply network.
